Hobart Indiana is located minutes south of the shores of Lake Michigan and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, Dunes State Park and beautiful beaches. The towns of Northwest Indiana offer a less hectic, family friendly lifestyle. Locally, shopping options abound from the many strip malls, big box stores, and larger malls including Southlake Mall in Hobart and Premium Outlets Lighthouse Mall in Michigan City. Dining and entertainment choices from the nationally known to the locally owned, as well as our casinos and theaters both big and small, fill the region. Fitness centers and outdoor activities are aplenty. Education options are not lacking either, major players are Purdue Calumet and North Central, Indiana University Northwest and Valparaiso University.
Go just fifty minutes west (by car or the convenient South Shore Train operated by the Northwest Indiana Commuter Transit District – connecting Chicago and South Bend with 17 stops in between) and you could find yourself in downtown Chicago, home to several major sports teams, world-class museums, dining, Broadway entertainment, high end retailers, two major airports and much, much more. Or, if you prefer slower paced relaxation, just 40 minutes east you will find the Michigan State line and many quaint shoreline towns offering locally owned, unique shopping and dining experiences, beaches and wineries.
So the offerings of our area are many and are waiting for you.
