General Lab Assistant II DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Perform routine and specialized assignments and demonstrate proficiency and understanding of the procedure in the area of a clinical laboratory under the direction of a Medical Technologist. Sterile Processing personnel are responsible for the reprocessing and sterilization of reusable items throughout the hospital, off-site clinics, and vendor instrumentation brought in for physician and patient use. Each tech is responsible for following all steps required in the processing phase which starts with proper decontamination through set assembly, inspection, sterilization, transport and storage.  Monitoring the quality of and ensuring the maintenance of all equipment in SPD. Learn to perform daily efficacy testing of equipment and become an infection prevenionist who ensures the sterility of equipment for the safety of patients, physicians, and staff.
