Pharmacy Technicians are an integral member of the Pharmacy department. They assume responsibility and accountability for maintaining medication inventories in the pharmacy and ancillary areas. The technician provides care to the patient through effective communication with nurses, pharmacists, physicians and patients and their family members. The technician is primarily responsible for preparing all IV admixtures including chemotherapy, unit dose packaging and refilling Omnicell cabinets. The technician must effectively communicate with all healthcare providers and refer appropriate information and concerns to the pharmacist.
