The Polysomnographer works under medical supervision to perform and evaluate overnight sleep studies/polysomnograms. Functions independently to safely operate sophisticated medical equipment to record sleep/wake physiology. Application of recording devices to the patient, cleaning/sterilization of equipment, and monitoring of polysomnograms are essential duties. Must recognize sleep pathology and respond with appropriate interventions.   Performs sleep disorder testing to include: obstructive sleep apnea, therapeutic studies, Myoclonus, Narcolepsy, and portable monitoring. The Diagnostic Imaging Secretary promotes positive patient and family experiences by receiving and greeting all patients and visitors to the Diagnostic Imaging Department with the highest levels of respect and courtesy. Upon receipt of patient information, the secretary analyzes and verifies all registration information. The secretary is then responsible for entering physician orders into the HIS/RIS after careful review and clarification where necessary. Any other information received is then documented, communicated and disseminated as necessary.  During this process, attention to detail, accuracy, and discretion is paramount to maintaining these components of the patients’ electronic medical record.
