This position will be a Pharmacy Technician who is trained to monitor workflow and troubleshoot IT issues as soon as they occur in real-time and will be a team leader in the automated drug distribution, allowing the department to stretch our capabilities to receive and order drug inventory on a 6th day of the week to maintain proper inventory levels. This position will provide the real-time support for meeting these goals.

Provide pharmaceutical care to patients admitted to inpatient services through actively participating on patient care rounds, contacting and conferring with physicians and other healthcare practitioners to optimize medication therapy and reviewing and perfecting medication orders. The Pharmacy Senior Technician assists pharmacists in providing medications to patients in an inpatient hospital setting by compounding complex sterile and non-sterile products and participating in the delivery of comprehensive pharmaceutical care. Area of service is GSH Inpatient Pharmacy.

This position will provide a variety of specialty pharmacy services including obtaining prior authorizations, enrolling patients in financial support programs, and coordinating first-time dispenses and refills for specialty medications prescribed within UK HealthCare. Will work closely with nurses, physicians, and UK Specialty Pharmacy staff to improve access to medications for a variety of subspecialty disease states.

Assists pharmacists in providing medications to patients in an inpatient hospital setting; prepares sterile compounds, individual patient doses and batch doses; participates in replenishing automated dispensing cabinets; and provides customer service in Central Pharmacy. This position is eligible for second shift and weekend differentials.

Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, this specialized Pharmacy Technician works side by side with ICU nurses by meeting with patient care teams and nursing staff to individualize each patient’s care from a pharmacy perspective. Facilitates patient specific medication delivery, reviews patient care flow sheet to time replacement bags for all continuous infusions. Assists Clinical Pharmacists as required to meet patient needs. Works to ensure proper transitions of care as patients transfer from ED to ICU to acute care floors.

This position will serve as shift lead for compounding and distribution services in central pharmacy. Conducts medium-risk sterile compounding in regard to USP 797 and board of pharmacy guidelines, inventory control and labeling. Trains new sterile compounding technicians enterprise-wide, performs sterility testing and participates in sterile compounding project development.

This Pharmacist position will provide comprehensive pharmacy services to adult patients in an Ambulatory Clinic setting. Services may include Medication Therapy Management, pharmacokinetic/anti-coagulation monitoring, clinical interventions, quality improvement and research initiatives, precepting pharmacy residents, and pharmacy representation in Medical Center Committees.

Assist pharmacist(s) in obtaining prior to admission medication histories; assesses patient risk factors for adherence to prescribed regimens; reviews/enters patient allergies and triages medication-related issues as identified via communication with pharmacists, other providers, or patients; assists pharmacist(s) with M2B prescription processing and distribution to patients/families within Chandler or Good Samaritan hospital(s); collects prescriptions and patient information required to process prescriptions under the direction of a pharmacist; delivers medications to patients; and collects payment using a point of sale system. Use of multiple computer devices and programs for adequate documentation are required.

Assists the pharmacy central distribution center staff in the transportation and distribution of medications and supplies across the UKHC enterprise. Works closely with the pharmacy supply chain staff to meet the needs of the department including, but not limited to, assisting with procurement and movement of supplies, preventative maintenance of equipment, and routine cleaning of equipment. Requires excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as effective communication skills to patients and healthcare staff. Must be able to safely and effectively drive a University of Kentucky vehicle for courier services to both on-site and off-site locations.

Provide patient care in a fast-paced pharmacy setting. Compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving written orders from physicians. Reviews and interprets prescriptions and drug profiles to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed and ensures that drug interactions are considered. May include standing for greater than 5 hours at a time. May require the ability to reach items above shoulder level and be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
