Lab tech Senior is needed to work in a fast paced neuropathology lab. Work will include molecular biology, tissue culture, immunohistochemistry, other biochemistry, and helping and teaching others. Teamwork is required. There will be some work with lab animals as well as human tissue preparation. Keeping detailed and organized records is essential.

We are seeking for a scientist with doctoral degree in the field of cellular and molecular biology or physiology to perform the studies to determine the mechanisms of obesity associated metabolic complications. The candidate is expected to independently design and perform in vitro as well as in vivo animal experiments utilization of various lab techniques. Will be able to analyze data, write manuscripts and present the results at scientific meetings. Will also be responsible to train graduate students or new lab personnel. Other job duties will include managing lab routines/equipment.

They serve as a primary author on all of the reports, grant proposals, and technical documentation issued by their section, and assist research staff in their efforts to produce academic publications. They take on a lead role in content management and supervise the work of junior staff. On state-sponsored projects, they will work directly with state officials to keep projects moving forward and on time. They assist with their section’s financial planning and budgetary allocations. The primary duties for this position are data collection, sample processing and analysis, setting up and maintaining greenhouse and growth chamber experiments, and provide support in research trials conducted in the field. The College of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky is seeking to hire immediately a Laboratory Technician Senior for the laboratory of Dr. Kip Guy. The Technician will be part of a dynamic and successful team engaged in translational research projects aimed at identifying novel therapeutic drugs in cancer and infectious diseases; as well as understanding the mechanism of action of these drugs. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with outstanding mammalian cell culture techniques mainly to drive the in vitro testing of molecules using mammalian cell lines and malaria strains. Moreover, the candidate is expected to participate in in vivo pharmacokinetic/toxicity studies, maintain the chemical inventory and lab supplies. S/he will perform analyses of environmental samples for COVID-related biomarkers and other disease-related biomarkers of interest. S/he will be responsible for biomarker extraction and quantitation within a laboratory setting. Method-specific training will be provided at the onset of employment, but experience with nucleic acid analysis and/or molecular diagnostics will be viewed favorably. S/he must be enthusiastic about learning and applying new/evolving scientific protocols. S/he will also be responsible for entering data into a project database and performing basic data analysis functions.
