To set up and manage various types of respiratory therapy equipment including the various oxygen delivery systems, nebulizers, , BiPAP/CPAPs, and mechanical ventilation. Manage protocols and administer prescribed doses of respiratory therapy inhaled drugs to inpatients and outpatients. Ability to perform arterial sticks for blood gas analysis and various bedside procedures to assess pulmonary status.
Qualifications: Completion of an approved respiratory therapy program and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the state of North Carolina. The RRT credential is required for employment. Considerable knowledge of respiratory care, terminology, procedures, and techniques. Ability to deal tactfully with patients, physicans and other hospital staff. Must be able to problem solve, handle emergencies, and have time management skills. BLS required for all respiratory staff. Other requirements are based on areas worked:
