Job Description


Semel Institute is seeking to hire a Staff Research Associate 1 with the following job duties:

Duties and Tasks
A. Laboratory research support
-Enter and manage data
-creen, recruit, and track potential participants
-Consent participants
-Coordination of activities and communications among sites
-Plan and schedule program meetings, assessments, treatment/intervention sessions/contacts
-Conduct diagnostic interviews/study/program assessments and complete develop assessment materials/programs (e.g. redcap)
-chedule and attend program meetings, develop agendas and minutes
- Other support tasks [e.g. ordering and tracking supplies; library/literature reviews/checks; correspondence and program communications; assist with all aspects of submission and follow up processes to the Office of Protection of Research Subjects; coordination across program/project sites; support with program students and volunteers; support with grant or funding agency correspondence, tracking, and preparation of reports; assist with production of manuscripts and presentations; prepare hospital and university forms as needed and monitor their progress to make

B. Assist with data management and analysis using SPSS and other programs

C. Assist with IRB applications and renewals, correspondence and communications, planning meetings and overseeing timeline(s) for program activities and studies, drive between study sites to coordinate and perform study activities and operations, preparation of manuscripts and other study study dissemination products and activities.

  • Ability to coordinate data collection and data entry for research studies/program activities across sites.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and congenially with all staff, faculty, students, patients and the public at all times.
  • Ability to schedule patient, program, and administrative appointments and meetings accurately.
  • Skill at prioritizing and tracking assignments and ability to work concurrently on several projects.
  • Ability to function effectively with several interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks with minimal direction.
  • High level ability in the use of a PC using all Windows applications.
  • Ability to enter and track data and manage research data base.
  • Ability in the use of SPSS, excel, powerpoint, word, and other standard programs.
  • Skill in maintaining organized filing systems.
  • Skill in editing reports, correspondence, manuals, etc., for grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in the strictest sense.
  • Skill in maintaining accurate timekeeping.
  • Familiarity with child and adolescent psychiatric disorders/mental health/functioning concerns.
  • High school diploma required, BA in related field preferred

  • Comply with Health System Dress Code Policy and practices
  • Has driver’s license, automobile, and insured in order to be able to drive independently between program sites.
