This job coordinates the day to day program operations of the athletic trainers; plans and organizes coverage for all contracted events; assumes responsibility for ensuring vacation coverage and oversight of trainers’ monthly work hours; prepares reports for review while ensuring reimbursements are submitted in a timely manner; and provides recommendations for staff development. Prepares age and diagnosis appropriate treatment under the supervision of the physician, and performs on-field immediate care for injury, recommending physician or therapy follow up.


Required - Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training

Preferred- Master's degree in Athletic Training

Work Experience

Required - 8 years experience as an Athletic Trainer

Additional degrees, business training experience and/or certifications may be combined to meet minimum qualifications


Required - Current Athletic Trainer License in state of practice

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Preferred - Dual license in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to tolerate temperature of 100 degrees or more for three hours during outdoor events.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule and extended shifts as required.

Job Duties

  • Provides effective Supervisory/Management support.
  •  Serves as a Liaison between the Athletic Training program, schools/club sports and the Sports Medicine clinic.
  • Coordinates the human resource and compliance needs of the program.
  • Collaborates with the development representative to market the Athletic Training program and coordinate community events.
  • Prepares age and prognosis appropriate treatment under the supervision of the physician/advanced practice clinician, and performs on-field immediate care for injury, recommending physician or therapy follow up.
  • Assumes responsibility for self development.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
