Job Description

Kentucky Children’s Hospital – Provides Pharmaceutical Care to pediatric and obstetric patients in an inpatient hospital and infusion care center settings. Contacts and confers with physicians and other practitioners to optimize drug therapy. Includes active participation on patient care rounds, medication reconciliation, patient education, review of patient profiles, therapeutic drug monitoring, utilizing pharmacist authority, responding to pediatric emergencies, etc. Precepts residents and students on various rotations. Reviews, interprets, and verifies written and electronic orders to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed for admitted patients. Provides direction and supervision of technical staff and pharmacy interns, and confirms the quality and accuracy of dispensed products. Maintains inventory and records of narcotics and other forms of drugs. The University of Kentucky considers the health, safety and well-being of our entire community to be a top priority. Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.
