Job Description

The UK HealthCare Office of Philanthropy seeks a Senior Director of Donor Communications and Stewardship/UKHC and College of Medicine. The Senior Director of Donor Communications and Stewardship/UKHC and College of Medicine will develop and implement a strategic communications plan and coach their staff to create communication pieces that enable the outreach efforts of the department; including web-based communications, direct mail, constituent outreach, and internal communication efforts. The position will work in collaboration with UKHC Marketing, UKHC Corporate Communications and College of Medicine Communications, strategically develop, oversee and direct the team in the development of strategic philanthropic communications in multiple media including but not limited to social media, video, event materials, and fundraising collateral. The Senior Director of Donor Communications and Stewardship/UKHC and College of Medicine will develop and implement high-level strategic communication plans for prospect and donor engagement in philanthropy. S/he will coach the staff team in the development, production and editing of major and principal donor collateral, especially cases for support and proposals. Personally oversee proposal writing for donors of $3M+ in concert with the prospect managers and associate vice president for philanthropy/UKHC and College of Medicine.. This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Philanthropy UKHC and College of Medicine and be the chief donor communications liaison with the Dean of Medicine, Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and their senior staffs. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in written and oral communication, conveying the value of healthcare/medicine to constituents. S/he will have experience in technical writing, especially in science or medicine. The candidate will need to have proficiency in all Microsoft programs as well as most CMS platforms; extensive project management experience in publication, video, events, programming, and most forms of communication; have the ability to lead others, taking into account divergent demands while managing scope and timelines; demonstrates strong analytical and qualitative research experience; be well organized; have exceptional communication skills (written & verbal); strong ability to engage and motivate others; active listening skills; enjoy working independently as well as in a group; and a thorough understanding of employee and budget management
