Job Description


Under supervision by the Program Director, and in concert with other stakeholders, the Program Manager will facilitate the establishment and growth of the UCLA Thoracic Radiation Oncology Research Program.  Utilizing effective communication, organization and supervisory skills, in this role you will be responsible for overseeing and/or implementing all administrative and operational functions of the Program. 

Duties will include oversight of clinical research operations and data collection projects; the establishment of a high quality data registry operation and supervision of a data manager; assisting with and/or engaging in the writing and submission of grants and clinical trials protocols; maintenance of a metrics “dashboard” to provide measurable and actionable data to Program stakeholders; making of recommendations and decisions in the on-going direction, operation and improvements of the Program.  Create and maintain, and edit standard policies and procedures related to improving the Program’s operational effectiveness.  Assist in resolving problems. 

You will serve as main liaison between stakeholders, preparing, scheduling, arranging and presenting at regular meetings, and serve as the main point of contact for information about the status of the Program and its functions.  As Program Manager you will work with Chief Finance Officer to align Program operations with its budgetary parameters.


  • Masters' Degree.
  • Ability to generate statistical graphs and figures.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and/or crisis and consider many complex variables for resolution.
  • Ability to recognize problems and their implications, propose alternatives, and recommendations.  Implement solutions and analyze information to determine programmatic needs.
  • Ability to work independently, and exercise initiative and creative problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and present complicated data in informational visual format.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a team member.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively interact with the general public, and culturally diverse patient populations, co-workers, professional staff and faculty in an appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical data collection, database creation and operations.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and poise to resolve any problems/issues that may arise.
  • Demonstrated writing skills to compose logical, comprehensive, and grammatically correct program plans, correspondence, procedures, and reports.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of University's EMR System (EPIC).
  • Organizational skill in prioritizing assignments, delegating assignments to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, MS Publisher, PowerPoint and web-based programs.
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods, including familiarity with regression analysis.
