Job Description

The Home Health Aide (HHA) / Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), provides compassionate care to individuals and families under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN). We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Home Health Aide (HHA) to join our team where excellent quality patient-centered care is their focus. You will be working collaboratively in a team-driven environment that may require frequent communication with other caregivers and other professionals involved in the patient's care. To excel in this role you should have an interest in health care and the ability to work with limited supervision keeping the patient's needs as your top priority.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provides and assist patient care under the direction of the registered nurse (RN) which may include but is not limited to: 
    • Turning, moving, or ambulating patients
    • Bathing and grooming patients by brushing their hair, teeth, shaving them, etc.
    • Feeding patients and documenting their food and liquid intake
    • Checking vital signs
    • Cleaning & tidying patient’s main area
    • Light housekeeping (change bed linens, start laundry, make a light lunch for the patient)
    • Gathering and stocking supplies, as applicable
    • Assisting with some medical procedures
    • Observe and report on patient condition
  • Protects patients and team members by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
  • Documents patient care services timely and accurately
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Ensures operation of equipment by verifying preventive maintenance requirements are completed; calling for repairs; and evaluating new equipment and techniques
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information and participating in team problem-solving methods
  • Keep up with in-service training
  • Apply DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Hours: 8a to 5p W/Call, 80 hrs pp

Qualifications

Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/ receive/ email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Completion of an approved Oklahoma Nurse Aide Training program, or previous health care related experience, or other related experience or training. Must have a Certification by the Oklahoma State Health Department and registration as a Certified Nurse Aide. American Heart Association BLS required. For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
