  • Reporting to Memorial Hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, this is a rewarding position that helps to support and enhance the functions of the organized medical staff.
  • Prior related experience is helpful but not required. The successful candidate will possess key strengths including effective organization & planning skills, strong written and verbal communication skills with all care team members, confidentiality, and intermediate to advanced technology skills. Must work well both independently with a high level of autonomy, and as part of a team.
  • Full time, 40-hour/week position. Monday-Friday schedule.

Position Summary

  • The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for the operations of the Medical Staff Services office in accordance with Memorial Hospital policies and procedures, Medical Staff bylaws, and regulatory agencies. Serves as a liaison between medical staff, administration, and other departments.
  • Maintains individual practitioner files for all medical staff members. Manages appropriate & timely review of medical staff appointments/reappointments including privileges and credentialing.
  • Attends and supports Medical Executive Committee, Medical Quality Review Committee and other committees as appropriate.
  • Participates actively as a team member in performance improvement activities of the institution as assigned.
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with the Quality team and works closely with the CMO to ensure goals and objectives of the Medical Staff / Quality Management / Risk Management department are met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: Associates Degree in medical staff services, business, related field of study; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • License/Certifications: Certified Medical Staff Coordinator (CMSC) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred, but not required. 
  • Experience: Three years' comprehensive experience as a medical staff services professional within a hospital setting is preferred; Related professional office experience considered.
  • Working knowledge of medical staff credentialing and organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all team members and stakeholders including senior leaders, medical providers, care team members, and colleagues.
  • Flexible schedule including ability to work occasional early mornings and evenings.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office/Teams, and web-based applications.
  • Must be adaptable, embracing of change, and work well in a dynamic environment.
  • Must work well independently and as part of a team.
