~ Per Diem/As Needed Position/Day Shift Availability ~

 

Position Summary

Mid Coast Senior Health Center has an immediate need for a per diem Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a MDS Coordinator for our care team. The MDS Coordinator serves as a resource person in geriatric nursing. Responsible for assuring a high quality customer experience for current and prospective patients/residents and their families; as well as completing the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process. Coordinates admissions to the Bodwell and Mere Point communities, acting as a liaison to hospitals, physician offices, third party payers and the community. Recommends process improvements to increase access, efficiencies, patient/resident satisfaction and reimbursement through comprehensive, thorough and accurate assessment.

Demonstrates leadership abilities in clinical and professional roles. The MDS Coordinator demonstrates positive guest relations through effective communication skills, patient advocacy and maintaining collaborative relationships. Contributes to standards of care, supports department policies and identifies quality improvement opportunities. Provides education to employees regarding documentation required for the MDS and person-centered care plans. 

  1. Education: (Education/Programs that are required/preferred- Bachelor’s degree, CNA Program, Medical Assistant Program, etc.)
  2. License/Certifications: RN state of Maine, valid Maine driver’s license. Certification for Medical Coding and MDS Certification highly preferred (but not required)
  3. Experience: Geriatrics, Skilled and Long Term Care
  4. Familiarity with third-party reimbursement regulations
  5. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  6. Professionalism, flexibility and excellent organizational skills
  7. Excellent instructional skills with the ability to teach to different learning styles
  8. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook and electronic medical records
