Summary

Maine Medical Center’s Kidney Transplant Program is seeking an experienced RN to join our outstanding team based in Portland. The RN Coordinator supports and coordinates care for our adult patients who have received a kidney transplant, and are being followed by our care team on a long term basis.

The RN Coordinator will join an experienced, dynamic multidisciplinary team of MDs, NPs, RNs, Social Workers, Nutritionists, Medical Assistants, and other transplant professionals who are wholly committed to high standards of care and positive outcomes for our kidney transplant patients. Our program performs approximately 50 transplants per year, and is actively involved in living kidney paired donation.

Our ideal candidate has 1+ years of nursing experience ideally in nephrology or renal care. Other RN experience such as Dialysis, ICU and Med/Surg will also be considered. This is a part-time (24 hours/week), day-shift position working a Monday-Wednesday and Friday schedule from 8am-4:30pm. This position offers some schedule flexibility, and the ability to enjoy additional compensation through participation in our organ transplant call team. Availability on Fridays is necessary.

  • Position Summary
    • The Post-Transplant Coordinator (PoTC) is responsible for coordinating patient care after transplant. Works in collaboration with the transplant nephrologists and transplant surgeon. Participates as a member of the multi disciplinary solid organ transplant team. Assumes responsibility to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of health care services from the point of transplantation and throughout the transplant maintenance phase. Collaborates with the team to organize health care needs/services analyze and records data accurately in the health care records. Maintains compliance with applicable state, federal and UNOS regulations including the submission of patient and transplant update forms.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • License/Certifications: Maintain licensure and certification of professional stature.
    • Experience: RN, PA, NP, recent critical care or other related experience.
    • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently, in group situations and with the public.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work under stress with numerous interruptions, distractions and changing priorities.
