Job Summary Statement

A Scheduler is responsible for assisting nursing staff in scheduling clinic, chemo and lab appointments in the oncology clinic, as well as DI appointments, which may include gaining pre-certification for the tests. Responsible for assisting and maintaining the uniform operation of the department by performing a broad range of duties.
Receives and processes paperwork and information, assists with chart preparation, communicates effectively and appropriately, works efficiently and productively, maintains a clean and safe environment. Reflects a caring attitude for patients, visitors and employees. Performs general office duties when required. Aids and assists others as needed.
The scheduler may also be asked to assist nursing staff with vital signs and placing patients in the exam rooms.
An Oncology Scheduler functions under the authority of the Clinical Manager of Oncology Services, assisting both Medical and Radiation Oncology departments
Prefer high school diploma or equivalent. (i.e. GED)
Must be able to interact with customers, coworkers, visitors, vendors, and physicians/physician’s office staff professionally.
Must have good diplomatic, communication and comprehension skills.
Must be able to demonstrate sufficient medical knowledge and spelling skills sufficient to use a medical dictionary.
Must be able to competently utilize computer programs used to complete all technical aspects of this job.
