Job Description


As the Physicians' Billing Supervisor for Pediatrics, you will be responsible for: 

·      Overseeing day-to-day operations of department assigned billing office staff

·      Oversight of assigning work list files to billing staff

·      Supervising contact with guarantors and third party carriers regarding account resolution, assigning special projects with regard to billing and payment issues, and assignment of accounts to collection agency, all cash posting and all cash undistributed functions

·      Evaluating account follow-up activity and conducting quality reviews

·      Escalating issues to appropriate Manager, Contracting Office, or Insurance Representative for prompt resolution

·      Serving as the first point of contact for Account Representatives (ARs), Billers, Cash Posters, CU Staff and Clerks and serve as the liaison with other Physician Support Services staff regarding operational processes and issues

·      Provide training on all systems for new staff

·      Perform account review and provide feedback to financial counselors in order to improve performance and QA


We are seeking a detail-oriented, independent professional with:

  • Supervisory and mentoring experience, highly desired
  • Two or more years of healthcare professional billing experience
  • Detailed knowledge of Medicare, Commercial, Covered California, HMO, PPO and Medicare HMO patient billing regulations to include covered and non-covered procedures, patient responsibilities, and appeal processes
  • Detailed knowledge of Medicare, Commercial, Covered California, HMO, PPO, Medi-Cal and medical HMO patient billing regulations contained in Gov Manuals
  • Detailed knowledge of HCFA 1500 insurance claim preparation to include proper use of Current Procedural Terminology, ICD-10 codes, modifiers, and HCPCS codes
  • Skill in reading and comprehending medical billing policies and procedures appearing in billing manuals
  • Knowledge and ability to comprehend medical terminology sufficient to read, write, and understand diagnostic codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with third party vendors
  • Knowledge of how to use the Care Connect Benefit and Collection Module
  • Ability to meet account quotas established by the Billing Director
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Ability to identify denial trends, root cause, and action steps to correct
