Job Description


Participate in the total patient care in the designated Radiology Clinics, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms and life threatening emergencies. Provide direct patient care for diverse patient population within the Radiology clinics. Assist in coordinating patient flow throughout the clinic, from registration to discharge. Work as a member of the Radiology care clinic team to provide smooth outpatient flow resulting in optimum patient satisfaction and clinic operation. Support different teams/ practices to cover illnesses, holidays, and leaves of absence.

Periodically schedule patient appointments using the EPIC (EMR) program. Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height. Preparing charts in advance for clinic appointments, reminding patients of their appointment, and assist with obtaining records. Periodically performing complex and or critical laboratory function or process. Maintaining stock levels and re-ordering of supplies; based on technical knowledge recommending best vendor source. Assisting in specialized procedure within the Outpatient Environment using sterile technique.


·        4+ years as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a large healthcare system - Preferred

·        Ability to assist in orientation of new staff

·        Ability to be flexible in working both back and front office to facilitate smooth workflow

·        Ability to obtain accurate vital signs and drug refills

·        Ability to skillfully administer oral, IM and subcutaneous medications

·        Demonstratable experience using EPIC (EHR/EMR system) - Preferred

·        Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, ancillary departments, physicians and co-workers in a courteous and compassionate manner

·        Knowledge and ability to set up and assist physician with any procedures

·        Knowledge of medical terminology

·        Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomatology and life-threatening medical problems

·        Knowledge of safety requirements when handling Biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments

·        Must be willing to travel throughout the UCLA Community. Hours may vary depending on assignments. (Locations include but not limited to: Westwood, Santa Monica, and Manhattan Beach Radiological Sites, base hours are 8:00 to 5:00 p.m.)

·        Verbal skills to effectively convey sensitive information in a courteous manner in person or on the telephone
