Job Description


Under the supervision of the Program Director, you will coordinate all clinical trials conducted by the UCLA Kagan Alzheimer’s Disease Treatment Development Program in the Mary S. Easton Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research at UCLA (Easton Center). You will manage Program staff involved in the conduct of research studies to improve the knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and the care of people with memory disorders. You will work collaboratively with the Clinical Research Coordinators of the Easton Center, staff of the Center for Neurotherapeutics (CNT), and staff of the Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC) on all issues that overlap with Kagan Program. You will be responsible for systematic collection of research data which forms the basis of papers and presentations. In addition, you also will contribute to new study design, data interpretation, and subject recruitment.



Experience in preparing protocols for Institutional Review Boards (IRBs)

Ability to communicate effectively in spoken English

Skill in writing legible, concise, and grammatically correct standard English

Knowledge of universal precautions

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and diplomacy

Ability to work cooperatively with physicians, nurses, and Center staff

Customer service skills to interact courteously, tactfully, and with sensitivity to patients, research subjects, caregivers, and the general public

Ability to make sound judgments and decisions; independent thinker

Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively with frequent interruptions and distractions

Knowledge of standardized behavioral, mood, and neurocognitive instruments for memory
loss and dementia

Skill in use of laboratory centrifuge

Ability to work alternate hours as requested

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to work Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week



BA or BS degree in relevant field with courses in health services, epidemiology, biostatistics, and health research methodology

Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to communicate information about memory loss and dementia to subjects, caregivers, and the general public

Medical training and experience

Ability to speak Spanish

Recent (within the last 18 months) and relevant experience conducting clinical trials

Demonstrated knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease

Experience in working with neurology patients and patient triaging

Skill in performing 12-lead ECGs

Knowledge of UCLA Office of Environment, Health, and Safety guidelines for shipping diagnostic specimens

Knowledge of FDA regulations pertaining to drug research with human subjects at clinical sites

Certificate in Clinical Trials Design and Management

Demonstration of excellence in clinical trial conduct at SRAII position, or equivalent

Skill in performing venipuncture
