Job Description


 Join the Department of Medicine - Division of Endocrinology as a Nurse Practitioner! 

The NP will act as a practitioner and also educator. The NP will perform health history, review of systems and physical examinations. The NP wil also assess the current learning needs and devise teaching plans and provide direct patient care education regarding disease nature, onset, course, prognosis and treatment. The NP will also communicate the plan of care to the patient, caregivers, and interprofessional team to optimize coordination and implementation. In addition to this, the NP will provide teaching to fellows, residents, interns, medical students, nursing staff and nursing students.  

The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725).  The NP will provide and coordinate the care of patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care.  The NP also participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals and documents services rendered.

  • MSN degree with a specialty in Adult Acute Care (AG-ACNP) Nurse Practitioner- required
  • CA RN and CA NP license -required.
  • National Certification in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty (i.e. ANCC) -required
  • A minimum of 1 year experience as a NP -  required
  • Endocrinology experience as an RN or NP- strongly preferred
  • BLS cerification from ARC or AHA- required
  • Other skills required: 
  • Ability to utilize excel, word and other software programs
    Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel
    Skill in working independently and following through with minimum direction
    Ability to set priorities
    Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondence
    Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner
