Status: Full Time – 80 hours
Hours: Monday-Friday - 9am-5:30pm
In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Diabetes Educator (RN) is responsible for rendering professional nursing care and directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Requirement:
Current licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse required
Minimum two years of experience in a medical/surgical environment required
Some ambulatory experience preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) required – will obtain during hospital orientation
Certification as a Diabetes Educator preferred
Verbal, clerical, numerical, and manual dexterity, color vision and near visual acuity
Review of the Diabetes Education Center policy and procedures before staffing the unit
Job Functions:
Obtains required assessments and collects needed data.
Contributes to the development of a plan of care.
Implements and monitors nursing interventions.
Provides timely, adequate teaching to patient/family/significant other.
Consistently documents assessments, interventions, and outcomes in necessary databases.
Successfully completes yearly competencies.
Demonstrates flexibility to meet the needs of the Diabetes Education Center which includes going to other expansions sites to see patients for diabetes education.
Demonstrates ability to assess patients understanding of diabetes education teaching.
Independently performs diabetes education to physician referred patients.
Maintains compliance in RQI.
Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Minimum hiring rate for this position is listed below.
