Summary

  • Position Summary
    • Under the direct supervision of the Maine Families Program Supervisor/Director, is responsible for establishing and fostering partnerships with families in order to implement Maine Families services in their homes. The program is grounded in prevention and is designed to promote child development, positive parenting, and child health outcomes, enhance parent-child relationships, and to prevent child abuse and neglect. Family Visitors work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to best meet the needs of families individually or in group settings.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or other related field.
    • License/Certifications:   Current valid driver’s license, has use of a vehicle that is insured and inspected following state requirements, needs to travel all throughout York County, and can maintain a flexible schedule (including nights and weekends when required).
    • Experience:  Minimum 1 year paid working experience with families with young children (children less than 6 years of age- infants and toddlers preferred).
    • Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment/bonding.
    • Knowledge of maternal-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect.
    • Ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with families.
    • Knowledge of best practices in parenting education and support.
    • Experience and willingness to work with culturally diverse populations.
    • Experience win family services delivered in home-based settings.
    • Possesses critical thinking and group management skills.
    • Ability to pass State Bureau of Investigation, Department of Motor Vehicle, Department of Health and Human Services, Sex Offender Registry, and fraud background checks.
