Job Description


The Palliative Care NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725). The NP will provide and coordinate the palliative care of patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care. The NP also participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals. Document services rendered.

This position is an inpatient role at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center; however the NP will need to travel between Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (Westwood campus) and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center as necessary.


  • CA RN License and CA NP License -required 
  • Masters in Nursing with Adult Acute Care (AG-ACNP, ACNP) NP Specialty - required
  • National Certification in NP Specialty - required
  • DEA -required
  • Furnishing License -required
  • BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association -required
  •  Palliative Care experience as a RN and/or NP-strongly preferred 
  • Oncology experience as an RN or NP- preferred
  • Palliative Care Certified Nurse- preferred
  • Ability to travel between Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (Westwood) and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center as necessary -required
  •          6 months or greater of NP experience -preferred
    ·         NPI: less than 6 months NP experience 
    ·         NPII: 6 months or greater NP experience
