The Clinical Dietitian will provide dietary assessments and counseling for pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine patients and Cystic Fibrosis patients (adult and pediatric) seen in clinic setting, as well as serve as consultant/resource for inpatient dietitians (adult and pediatric) for Cystic Fibrosis patients admitted to the hospital. You will design individualized diets for home and inpatient use and collaborate with family members and community representatives to encourage adherence to medically-necessary diets. You will also collaborate and communicate with other members of the team, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other staff. You will assist in system-wide changes to pharmacy/nutrition policies pertinent to patient populations as needed and assist in obtaining necessary insurance authorizations.
Required:
Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, and have completed an ACEND-accredited supervised practice dietetic internship program or Individualized Supervised Pathway, and be certified as a registered dietitian from the Commission on Dietetic Registration
Two or more years of experience in conjunction with a BS degree in nutrition related field
Ability to assess patient calorie, protein and micronutrient needs based on Standards of Nutrition Practice and the Guidelines for Nutrition Care.
Ability to evaluate appropriateness of current nutrition regimen and make appropriate recommendations
Ability to apply principles of medical nutrition therapy, food service and sanitation
Ability to adapt procedures for patient education level, cultural practice, psycho-social and economic status
Ability to travel to annual Cystic Fibrosis Conference in the fall (four days)
Work with and educate allied team members to develop plan of care for patients
Strong organizational skills
Preferred:
CCS paneled or panel eligible
Knowledge or fluency in Spanish
Experience with Cystic Fibrosis
Experience in research and quality improvement
