Job Description

Performs a variety of functions including: greeting patients, scheduling procedures, answering the phone, sending exams images via CD, transporting patients and other miscellaneous duties in assisting the technologists.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.   Demonstrates excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills and professional phone etiquette.   Follows procedures for appropriate scheduling of patients for exams.   Maintains an organized work area and appropriately prioritizes job tasks.   Sends exam images to consulting providers via computer/CD.   Transports patients to and from the department as needed.   Demonstrates understanding and skills in use of computer systems.  Is able to troubleshoot as needed and notifies supervisor and/or technical assistants, if required.   Knows and follows radiation safety policies and procedures.   Maintains patient confidentiality.   Accurately files, pulls, mails and re-files charts/exam images – on paper and in the computer systems.   Supports the policies and procedures of the organization and the standards of the Joint Commission as required for full accreditation.   This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.  Employees will be required to follow any other job related duties requested by their supervisor.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.   QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Medical terminology knowledge and computer skills preferred.   LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before patients or employees of organization.   MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.   REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
