Post Surgical RNs are instrumental in the recuperation and healing of their patients. The nurse not only provides direct patient care but also helps ensure the patient understands their plan of care including follow up instructions. The ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members/significant others and other members of the care team is extremely important.
Additional key responsibilities include assessing, planning and implementing care in collaboration with other caregivers throughout the duration of the patient stay. In addition to providing direct care, key responsibilities include documentation, ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality, assessing patient understanding of and compliance with instructions and health care teaching. Additionally, the RN should be able to recognize changes in patient status and notify appropriate nursing and medical staff.
This is a full time day shift position.
Associates Degree required; Bachelors Degree preferred
Current Texas RN license required
Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications required
Minimum 1 year RN experience required
Knowledge of Federal and State regulatory agency standards related to health care organizations.
Cognitive and technical knowledge and ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care is required.
Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing required.
Must be flexible with work scheduling
Involves discretion and independent actions within prescribed limits.
