Job Description

Manages and coordinates the activities of the Sterile Processing Department. This position is responsible to ensure staff has documented competency and continuing education training to support sterilization processes throughout the organization that meet regulatory compliance. Responsible to track, trend and report all identified quality metrics to the appropriate committees. Core Competencies Creates a culture of effective communication and promotes positive working relationships with internal and external customers. Acts as a direct liaison between managers, physicians, OR service line leads, OR staff, sterile processing staff and other departments to support timely, safe, high quality care delivery. Selects, trains, on boards and develops staff utilizing competency based orientation and training tools to ensure effective performance related to all staff responsibilities. Develops Key Performance Indicators, monitors and reports performance metrics to designated departments and develops process improvement plans to address any gaps based on industry standards . Holds staff accountable for all policies, procedures and performance metrics and addresses any personnel issues in order to promote a healthy work environment. Utilizes daily rounding in sterile processing and the operating room and attends daily huddle to support open communication with staff and physicians and to promote proactive problem solving. Ensures organizational compliance with all regulatory and professional standards specific to the care, handling, transportation and storage of sterile instruments and equipment. Prepares and records work schedules and approves CTO in a timely fashion in API to provide adequate coverage for the department and to ensure completion of all required duties. Reviews and reports incident reports and or quality data trends and performance improvement progress to appropriate staff and committees on a monthly basis or as required. Collaborates with the Executive Director to develop annual operating and capital budgets and is accountable for meeting approved budgets. Ensures annual evaluations are completed on time and personnel files are up to date and contain all required information to support regulatory compliance. Experience Number of Years Experience Type of Experience N/A Additional Information 3 years' experience in an acute care sterile processing department. License / Certification Requirements CRCST certification.
