Prepares, cooks, bakes and cleans up meals for patients, employees, and special meals by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Checks and verifies patient count and correct diet when in job classification.
Reviews daily menus (patient, employee, special meals) and determines amount of food needed for the morning or evening meals.
Prepares proper amounts of food in sufficient quantities to cover daily menu orders, timing preparation to meet schedules according to standardized recipes.
Maintains standards of quality food production with portion control and handles food in accordance with established sanity standards.
Prepares special OB dinners as needed.
Reviews daily menus (patient, employee, and special meals) and determines amount of baked goods, salads and desserts needed for that day.
Assists on tray line at morning, dishes up and serves salads and desserts at noon for patients, dining room, and special meals as needed.
Prepares proper amount of baked goods, salads, desserts in sufficient quantities to cover daily menu orders, timing preparation to meet schedules according to standardized recipes.
Bakes cookies, cakes, breads and extras as needed or requested.
Operates dishwashing machine in a safe and efficient manner during the meal times.
Fill condiments, napkins and cleans the employee dining room daily, before and after the morning and afternoon meals.
Sets up patients cold foods and assists on tray line, and has knowledge of patient diets.
Supports the policies and procedures of the organization and the standards of the Joint Commission as required for full accreditation.
Prepares food as needed for the gift shop food cart.
Helps customers in the gift shop by operating the cash register and getting food or beverages for them.
Demonstrates organization values in daily work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have graduated from high school. Some food service experience along with understanding the principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment desired but not required. On the job training will be provided.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees, patients, and other co-workers of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
