Job Description


$5,000 sign on bonus with 50% at hire and 50% at 6 months

This is an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our care team at Maine Medical Center in the Acute Psychiatric Care Unit of the Emergency Department. 

This is a part-time, third-shift/nights position with the option of two 10-hour shifts per week or 8-hour rotating shifts with alternating 16 hour and 24 hour weeks. Successful candidates must be LCSW licensed in the State of Maine and have 2 years’ of post-LCSW licensure experience.

The social worker in the acute psychiatry unit must be able to quickly establish rapport with a diverse variety of patients; have excellent diagnostic skills; be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment; communicate with colleagues in the Emergency Department, family and outpatient providers; utilize crisis intervention skills; and have knowledge of a broad array of community resources and systems.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1.  Education: Knowledge of social work theories, techniques and therapies, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well as principles of social welfare as acquired through completion of a Master's degree in social work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  2. License/Certifications: Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Work Licensure, LCSW.
  3. Experience: Two or more years' of post licensure work experience in a health or mental health setting preferred.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaborative with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team within Acute Psychiatry and Emergency Medicine.
