He or she must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of anatomy. The technologist must demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill and understanding of image quality. Must demonstrate an understanding of radioactive material, Radiographic Positioning, Radiographic Technique, Radiation Safety, Imaging Equipment, Infection Control and Quality Control techniques. Strictly adheres to the policies, procedures and protocols set forth in the radioactive material license. The technologist must handle the radioactive material according to the license, and Federal, State and local regulations. Assists in maintaining a work area free from hazards. Presents a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians, subordinates and other members of the department staff. Must be able to communicate to patients the nature of the tests and relieve their anxiety. The nuclear medicine technologist must perform routine diagnostic imaging studies, as needed. Must vary work schedule. The patient population of Spring View Hospital ranges from neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. The nuclear medicine technologist must provide services to all patients, families, and physicians serving this population.
The nuclear medicine technologist must be registered or registry eligible in either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists for Nuclear Medicine (RTCN), and / or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT). Kentucky Radiation Operators Permit for Nuclear Medicine is also acceptable. High school graduate or GED, a graduate of a JRC/CAHEA approved program in Radiologic Technology and/or graduate of an approved program in nuclear medicine technology. CPR certification required. One year recent experience in general radiography preferred. One year recent experience in nuclear medicine technology preferred.
