Job Description

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Food & Nutrition is seeking an Adult Outpatient Clinical Dietitian II to participate as a member of the medical team for nutritional care of patients and education on medical staff, medical students, dietetic interns and other nutrition staff.

  • Use Nutrition Care Process to assess, evaluate, and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for the adult outpatient dialysis center and the adult high-risk OB clinic
  • Teach dietetic itnerns
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and develop nutritional components of care
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient's status according to age

The department intends to hire one candidate from either Adult Outpatient Clinical Dietitian I, requisition 21004449, or Adult Outpatient Clinical Dietitian II, requisition 21004450, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Reasonable (1-3 years) clinical nutrition experience
  • Demonstrated competency of patient care for adult renal patients and high-risk OB patients in the outpatient setting
  • Experience in making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas
  • Must demonstrate experience working effectively in a diverse environment

Certifications

  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required
  • Applicant must be registered for at least one year per CMS guidelines
  • Licensure by the State of Iowa is required
