Summary

Spring Harbor Academy is looking for a passionate and dedicated Ed Tech III to join our talented and dedicated team!

In partnership with a strong benefits package, Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s Educational Tech III's are paid a starting rate of $20.75, increasing with experience or the RBT certification once achieved!

Spring Harbor Academy is a special-purpose private school, which provides individualized educational services and behavioral treatment to children admitted to the Developmental Disorders Unit at Spring Harbor Hospital. 

 Located within Spring Harbor Hospital, this is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in both a special purpose school environment and inpatient Developmental Disorders unit. Our program specializes in the care of children with developmental disorders, such as autism or intellectual disability

*Up to $4,000 SIGN-ON BONUS and $2,000 a year Tuition Reimbursement*

*Current MaineHealth employees not eligible for the sign on bonus. Must be separated from MaineHealth system for 3 months to be eligible. Tuition Reimbursement is available to employees after 6 months of employment.

The Ed Tech III supports the achievement of academic, behavioral, and functional skills in accordance with each child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP).

Provide individualized instruction and behavioral support to achieve communication, play, socialization, self-care, cognitive, behavior and motor goals of students in accordance with the Individual Treatment Plan, IEP and/or Positive Behavior Support Plan utilizing the tools of applied behavior analysis (ABA).

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High School diploma with a minimum of 90 college credit hours.
  2. License/Certifications: Certification as an Education Technician III from the Maine Department of Education (minimum of 90 credits in approved study) or the ability to be certified. Certification as School-Based Behavioral Health Professional preferred (may be provided upon hire).
  3. Experience: 1+ year of experience working with children or youth with developmental disorders, mental health disorders, and/or challenging behavior in school, hospital, or residential setting preferred.
  4. DOE fingerprinting required.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide education and care to students/patients (ages 5 – 20) with consideration of variable cognitive abilities, developmental levels, and cultural patterns.
  6. Willing and able to learn and appropriately implement crisis management procedures for the purpose of maintaining the safety of students and others.
  7. Minimal level of proficiency in swimming in both shallow and deep water to secure safety of students in the event of an emergency.
