Job Description

The Director provides operational leadership to the day-to-day patient care services of the TH Outpatient Oncology and Infusion services at assigned locations. The Director directs, coordinates, and has twenty-four hour accountability for the clinical services within the medical oncology and infusion departments. This entails evaluation of employee work performance, providing personnel counseling and disciplinary action in cooperation with TH HR department, the Director of Cancer Services and/or the Medical Director of Cancer Services. The Director communicates and collaborates with other departments for problem identification and resolution. Through the Director, clinical activities are coordinated with other departments. The Director will maintain, review, and revise clinical policies and procedures for the department and communicate with staff in order to facilitate compliance with policies and procedures. The Director will develop and maintain a positive rapport with physicians and administrative staff and generally seek to guide services to “best in practice recognition” The Director will provide direct patient care if needed; helps to develop and work within an annual budget and complete other duties as assigned.   Qualifications   Experience: A minimum of five (5) years clinical leadership experience, required.   Education:   ADN, required. BSN, preferred.   Licensure/Certification/ Registrations: Current Oncology Certification (OCN) through the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) preferred. If hired with no current OCN certification the employee will obtain OCN certification at own expense within 18 months from the start date of employment with GHS. Current and in good standing RN Licensure with South Carolina Board of Nursing. American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the GHS Staff Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the GHS Staff Development Office are approved by Staff development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two years.Special Skills:   Demonstrated effectiveness with strong communication skills including large group presentation required Demonstrated effectiveness with strong written communication skills including report presentation required Ability to be driven with independent work assignment management and prioritization skills required Prior experience where strong self motivation, organizational and interpersonal skills were required Presentation of demonstrated proficiency examples of work with Microsoft Office software products Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. Demonstrates strong physician relation skillsPhysical Requirements: Light-Medium Physical Agility Test Rating Required (PAT)   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and will be measured by Physical Agility Test
