Summary

    Spring Harbor Hospital is seeking dedicated and passionate Psychiatric Technicians to provide care and emotional support to patients within the Adult Psychiatric Unit; contributing to the achievement of quality care and patient outcomes by maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu, assisting with the collection and documentation of data,  and in cooperation with the treatment team members, implements individualized treatment plans.

    The West Adult Psychiatric Unit is a 24-bed general adult psychiatric unit that services patients who experience acute psychiatric illnesses and any co-occurring disorders. Treatment emphasizes return-to-work strategies and cognitive therapies to help patients transition smoothly from the hospital to the community and in the shortest possible time.

    As a Psychiatric Technician, you will: 

    Contribute to the achievement of quality care and positive patient outcomes. 

    Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu. 

    Provide emotional support. 

    Encourage patient participation in programming. 

    Facilitate activities and provide supervision. 

    Reinforce desired behaviors. 

    Offer redirection and behavioral intervention to maintain a safe environment for all.

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): 

    Education: High School diploma and equivalent experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Social Services preferred. 

    License/Certifications: N/A 

    Experience: N/A 

    Demonstrates a proficiency in all aspects at the entry level position. 

    Must be able to annually demonstrate competency in seclusion and restraint training. 

    Position Summary
    • The Psych Tech contributes to the achievement of quality care and patient outcomes by maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu. To accomplish this goal, the Psych Tech provides care and emotional support to patients as assigned. The Psych Tech may also assist with the collection and documentation of data and in cooperation with the treatment team members, implements individualized treatment plans.
