Summary

Position Summary

Under supervision of the Head Nurse or designee and according to defined policy and procedures, offers support to unit which include such functions as maintaining supplies and providing a clean and safe environment.  Specific duties may vary by area of assignment

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education: High School graduate or GED equivalent preferred.

  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: N/A
  4. Ability to read, write and speak English in order to follow simple oral or written instructions and complete standard forms. 
  5. Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with patients, visitors and Maine Medical Center employees.
  6. Knowledge of policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, Nursing Services and the Institution. 
  7. Physical abilities necessary to walk and stand up to 80% of work time and transport patients and equipment. 
  8. Minimal computer skills for email and patient tracking. 
  9. Ability to recognize needed changes in supply quota levels due to recent usage. 
  10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with Nursing Personnel and staff within other hospital departments.
  11. Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
