Under the direction of the Facility Supervisor, the HVAC Technician operates and maintains controls/air conditioning/air dryer compressor equipment for appropriate humidity requirements to provide a controlled environment within the hospital and all offsite facilities as required. Maintains and repairs all hospital and offsite facility HVAC equipment. Responsible for assisting in carrying out the organization’s Electrical and Mechanical Preventative Maintenance Program on heating, ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration systems that control the air quality in the organization’s buildings.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Graduate of vocational, trade, or high school preferred, including courses in brazing/soldering, blueprint reading, refrigeration/air conditioning, mathematics, chemistry, physics and electrical science preferred.
License/Certifications: Maine Journeyman license in #1 & #2 fuel oil as well as natural gas and propane. Other certifications and documented training as required. Valid driver’s license required.
Experience: Minimum of four years experience with operation and maintenance of refrigeration/air conditioning equipment tempered with two (2) years experience in a general maintenance and repair capacity. Preferred work experienced in a Hospital and/or medical office environment.
Demonstrated working knowledge of heating, ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration systems that control the air quality in the organization’s buildings required.
