The Director of Nursing position will work in conjunction with the CEO, Medical Director, Providers and department heads of GCHD to maintain optimal patient care and provide healthcare services to Granite County. This position will be accountable to the CEO.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Maintains day to day operation and oversight of the Nursing Department to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality and optimal nursing care.
Provides pertinent information to the CEO concerning operations involving nursing care delivery and any occurring changes, through email, telephone, in person and monthly meetings.
Upholds and maintains compliance with the policies and procedures of the hospital district.
Responsible for assisting with Federal and State surveys to ensure continued compliance.
Maintains the nursing and CNA staff schedules. Is willing and available to cover shifts when needed. Responds to emergencies and performs direct patient care as needed.
This position is on call for nursing staff questions and concerns 24/7. Notice to CEO must be given if alternate arrangements are made to cover PTO or extended absence.
Ensures that qualified staff are hired and trained to meet the specific needs of the Nursing Department.
Performs annual evaluations for all nursing staff.
Actively Participates and promotes nursing staff recruitment and retention
Responsible for coaching and discipline of nursing staff.
Communicates goals and strategic plans involving the Nursing Department to staff and CEO.
Effectively and professionally leads Nursing Department to achieve GCHD and department goals and objectives.
Actively participates in strategic planning for the hospital district.
Provides budget for nursing, clinics and the ER annually for review and approval. Maintains operations within the budget constraints.
Assists with capital purchases.
Works collaboratively with the community to promote GCHD and facilitate the current strategic plan.
Assists with community events as requested. Works with other entities to ensure optimal patient care and assists in identifying the health care needs of Granite County. Example: EMS, Sheriffs' Department, Public Health etc...
Maintains transfer agreements with other entities.
Responsible for grievance oversight and response for nursing staff, patient, or families.
Actively participates in strategic planning for the hospital district, Department Director's Meetings, QA and Safety Meetings, Policy Review and conducts monthly department meetings to facilitate communication and optimal patient care and safety.
Responsible for Quality Assurance reporting as required and recommended for participation in Federal State, local and in house compliance.
Responsible for compliance with Infection Control plan, monitoring and reporting.
Participates in all educational activities required annually by the facility including completion of Relias or any other education/certification for compliance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be a graduate of an accredited Nursing School with an unencumbered Registered Nurse license.
2. Must be licensed in Montana and remain current with continuing education requirements for the position.
3. Must have at least 3 years of management experience in a Critical Access Hospital or similar setting.
