Job Description

Responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of designated equipment, linen, supplies, and instrumentation for all departments.  Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance to the established FMC policies, procedures and guidelines.   Job Qualifications   Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent required.      Licensure & Certifications:  Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST) preferred upon hire.  Must obtain   Must obtain certification within 24 months of date of hire.   Experience:                   Job-related Skills:      Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; ability to problem-solve and facilitate resolution to issues; demonstrates ability to handle multiple priorities; ability to make independent decisions.   Organizational Expectations and Responsibilities:   Mission and Service Values Empathy – Demonstrates a willingness to understand others’ perspectives, without labeling or judging; treats others with compassion and is personally engaged in providing patient and family-centered care. Personal Growth—Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning; completes all mandatory education and participates in learning events/opportunities/experiences to enhance on-the-job performance.   Essential Job Functions   Job Expectations and Responsibilities: Performs appropriate counts with circulator at designated times during procedure.  Passes instruments to physician during procedure. Applies and enforces principles of aseptic technique, sets up case for each surgery. Services supply room, washes instruments and assists with clean-up duties. Removes all used linens and instruments from each case. Prepares OR suite with proper supplies, equipment, labeled medications, etc. according to the day’s surgery schedule. Maintains service inventory: acts as a liaison between physicians and OR staff, orders equipment and supplies, maintains equipment for that service.
