Under the direction of a registered professional nurse assists with surgical procedures; provision of therapeutic, preventive and emergency patient care duties; and preparation, operation and maintenance of routine and complex equipment, instruments and supplies.
Individual Performance Responsibilities
Cleans, checks, orders and re-supplies surgical area and support/storage areas.
Provides proper care and handling of equipment, instruments and supplies (E/I/S).
Prepares surgical area for patient care.
Provides therapeutic, preventive and emergency patient care in an operating room setting.
Drapes the patient and equipment appropriate to surgical procedure.
Recognizes and communicates breaks in aseptic technique.
Documents and communicates creation of sterile field.
Prepares and passes sutures to the surgeon.
Positions patient for surgery and to facilitate breathing, initiating corrective action for airway obstruction.
Performs sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
Satisfactory completion of a vocational or military course in surgical technology, or certification as a surgical technologist.
Prior Perioperative experience
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Previous ASC experience is desired.
