Job Description

The Imaging Technologist I perform a variety of imaging procedures, including routine and specialized x-rays, Bone Densitometery (DEXA), fluoroscopy and C-arm surgery procedures. Major Responsibilities Produces diagnostic radiographs as requested by the medical providers following the guidelines in the departmental Protocol Manual and the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). Performs quality control tasks when necessary and carefully documents. Ensures comfort and safety for all patients during transport to and from the Department. Explains to the patient all procedures to be performed. Responds to special needs, requests, and concerns of the patient. Provides lead shielding to all personnel and patients whenever possible to anyone exposed to radiation and practices within the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) guidelines. Ensures patient safety by obtaining the required equipment and personnel to perform the procedure requested. Carefully checks each radiograph produced to ensure it meets all written guidelines for adequate diagnostic quality. Helps to maintain a safe, clean environment in the Diagnostic Imaging department and hospital wide Cooperates and coordinates with the Lead Technologist, Imaging Director, Radiologist, Medical Staff, and Nursing staff to ensure a healthy and productive environment for good patient care. Participatesinthemonthlydepartmentalmeetingsreportingonanyassignedtasksandsharinginformation/ideas with department personnel. Conducts self in an ethical manner compatible with the dignity of the profession. Prepares allradiographswithcomparisonfilmsandacompletehistorytobereadyfortheRadiologist'sinterpretation. Coordinates work load to ensure all procedures are done in the most efficient manner possible. Assigns charges (billing) of all procedures performed on the request forms or in the EMR. Education and/or Experience Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required American Registry of Radiologic Technologists(ARRT)certification in Radiography required Washington State Radiologic Technologist license required Current Basic Life Support(BLS)required Schedule Per diem employees may work 0-16 hours per week.
