NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM ASSOCIATE-LGMC NURSE RESIDENCY-FULL TIME (JOB ID: 6348) Location: LGMC Employment Status: Full Time PURPOSE/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Nurse Associate of the organization’s Nurse Residency Program is responsible for assisting the Nurse Residency Manager with ongoing development and coordination of a program that will bridge the gap between undergraduate education and entry level into the professional practice of nursing at Lafayette General Health.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Functions in a leadership role to include coaching, mentoring, and developing nurse residents • Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning , implementation, and evaluation of education programs  • Evaluate preceptor outcomes and determine effectiveness of resident’s transition • Facilitate program data collection and outcomes tracking as appropriate • Recommends recruitment and retention strategies as it relates to nurse residents • Provides ongoing support for coordinator, nurse residents, nurse residency facilitators, and nurse preceptors • Coordinates post-Nurse Residency activities including follow-up surveys, meetings, and retention activities • Conducts and/or coordinates meetings and follow up with the new nurse as suggested by the evidence based practice to aid in retention and success • Evaluate preceptor outcomes and determine effectiveness of resident’s transition • Mentor and develop preceptors by offering ongoing learning workshops • Facilitate program data collection and outcomes tracking as appropriate • Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs • Functions as a liaison between disciplines and departments in ensuring a smooth coordination of clinical entry programs, including facilitating meetings, identifying and responding to daily problems, and communicating and collaborating with many different members of the care team. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: • Registered Nurse • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Master’s preferred. • Minimum of 5 years post-licensure acute care nursing experience required. • Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and networking and skills required. • Experience in data collection, analysis, and outcomes tracking as appropriate • Instructional teaching experience both formal and informal  • Experience in group dynamics, presentation, facilitation skills and human behavior • Experience in computer applications such as word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook and learning management systems. EQUIPMENT OPERATED: • General office equipment • Computer • Diagnostic testing equipment • Various types of medical instruments & equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: • Medium Work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 21-50 pounds on occasion and/or a maximum lift of 11- 25 pounds on a frequent basis • May be required to assist in the turning, lifting, or moving patients as well as walking about from patients’ rooms, as well as to and from various hospital areas
