Works under the supervision of the Radiology Manager and the Staff Radiologist. Performs a variety of diagnostic procedures utilizing all aspects of diagnostic equipment. Responsible for scheduling and preparation of patient for examination. Performs all other duties as assigned:
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Obtains appropriate medical history before patient examination.
Prepares patients for their examinations.
Performs appropriate diagnostic procedures as ordered.
Assists radiologist when performing special procedures and fluoroscopy.
Maintains cleanliness of all radiology equipment rooms.
Maintains adequate stock of supplies in weekly assigned room.
Properly makes exposures to produce imaging of diagnostic quality.
Performs appropriate modality procedures per protocols.
Performs PACS function, and burn CD’s.
Performs exams per department routine.
Ensures that expenditures for job related activities are within budgetary constraints.
Maintains confidentiality of all personnel and patient care and relations information.
Actively participates in Customer/Guest Relations and Mandatory Education programs.
Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Assumes other related responsibilities as assigned.
Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Review of patient records for information needed for procedures (i.e. labs, previous procedures etc.)
Obtains and verifies appropriate physician order.
Utilizes HIS and ED computer charting systems to obtain and chart pertinent patient information for transportation and exam purposes.
Education: High school diploma with graduation from a School of Radiology Technology.
Licensure: Certified/licensed by the State of Wyoming and ARRT.
Certifications required: See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
Experience: Experience in Diagnostic X-Ray is preferred.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Hand/eye coordination in order to perform examinations using complex equipment requiring precise calibrations and giving injections; ability to speak clearly to communicate with patients, families, physicians and staff regarding patient’s condition, etc.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to develop positive interaction with patients, patients’ families, and staff in order to effectively care for the patients. Must have ability to professionally deal with problems involving patient, families, physicians and co-workers.
Essential Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and/or maneuver heavy objects, equipment and patients for exams. Must be able to push, pull and lift 40 pounds.
Essential Mental Abilities: Must be able to analyze and manipulate numbers, percentages, and indexes from equipment for procedures. Must have ability to explain procedures to patients. Requires higher level of mental faculties accompanied by short-term memory. Must be able to resolve more complex problems involving patients, families, physicians and staff.
Essential Sensory Requirements: Must have sufficient vision, hearing and speech to perform duties.
Exposure to Hazards: OSHA CATEGORY I. TASKS THAT INVOLVE EXPOSURE TO BLOOD, BODY FLUIDS, OR TISSUES. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I Tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I Tasks. Additionally, exposure to gamma rays, radioactive gases, chemicals and sharps will occur as part of normal job duties.
Hours of Work: Hours and days vary according to schedule; may have to work weekends, take call, and work holidays
