Job Description

Directs, organizes and supervises operation and test performance of Microbiology Section to assure rapid and accurate test result generation utilizing cost efficient methods and effective employee management skills. Evaluates the feasibility of addition of new tests to meet patient care needs. Presents specific educational sessions. Monitors, evaluates, and troubleshoots quality control and proficiency testing data. Tabulates statistical data for Performance Improvement studies, financial studies and informational projects. Directs performance of Microbiology Staff Technologists and MLT/CLT/CLA Techs. Ensures quality patient care to include neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics through effective quality control, performance improvement, section and departmental compliance with regulatory standards and instrument maintenance & trouble shooting. Administers and directs the laboratory department as back-up to the Director of Laboratory. Qualifications Required: Formal Education and Certifications MT State licensure per West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services Office of Laboratory Services Knowledge and Experience Three years experience in a clinical microbiology   Color vision designation. Preferred: Knowledge and Experience Basic computer skills Five years clinical microbiology experience
