UMA 2nd Year Mental Health & Human Services Internship- Inpatient Behavioral Health Services
Inpatient Behavioral Health Services provides psychiatric and medical detoxification treatment at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Acute care crisis stabilization is provided at this location. The unit has thirty (30) licensed beds. The inpatient psychiatric service accepts legally voluntary and involuntary patients, male and female, who are 18 years of age and older. Therapeutic programing is provided 7 days/week.
Receives on-the-job training and work experience, preferably in the student’s field of study; receives orientation, information and assignments to familiarize the student with program operations; may be assigned to prepare reports; attends meetings and/or provides technical assistance.
Based on previous experience and education, student may be assigned progressively more difficult and responsible tasks.
