Under the direction of the Sleep Lab Medical Director, performs various polysomnograms and other sleep disorder tests. Responsible for attaching electrodes and monitors to patients who are participating in a sleep study. Monitors the patient throughout the sleep study and documents observations, collects data from various monitors and reports this information to the physician. Responsible for CPAP titration and oxygen therapy when applicable. Scores reports.
Degree/Diploma Program of Study
Polysomnographer: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and hold RPSGT credential and exemption from the SC Board of Medical Examiners. OR Hold the CRT/RRT credential from an accredited program and have completed appropriate training and acceptance to sit for either the Respiratory SDS (sleep disorder speciality) Exam, BRPT Exam for the RPSGT credential, or the American Board of Sleep Medicine Sleep Technologist Registry Examination for the RST credentia.

If Respiratory Care Practitioner, must be licensed by the SC Board of Medical Examiners and credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory care as a Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
