  • Current MaineHealth employees not eligible for the sign on bonus. 
  • Must be separated from the MaineHealth system for six months to be eligible.

We are hiring in our special care unit.  We have an immediate opening for a full time position, working 36 hours a week to support the day and the evening shifts.

Position Summary

The SCU/SD RN is responsible for complex assessment, high intensity therapies and interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance. Effective communications skills are essential. The critical care nurse relies on a specialized body of knowledge, skills and experience to provide safe patient and family centered-care and create environments that are healing, humane, and caring. The critical care nurse is a patient advocate. The SCU/SD patient population includes pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
    2. License/Certifications: Current in the State of Maine as a Registered Professional Nurse. Current BLS Certification. ACLS Certification preferred (or attained within twelve months of hire). Successful completion of a Critical Care Course preferred.
    3. Experience: N/A
    4. Completion of departmental competencies within one month of hire.
    5. Demonstrates written and verbal communication skills
    6. Proficient computer skills
