Job Description


  • Position Summary
    • This is an independent, collaborative position supporting the strategic sourcing and contracting of products and services. The Contracting Specialist supports the Contract Managers to partner with strategic MaineHealth customers through the Value Analysis process in the evaluation of opportunities and facilitation of savings.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Knowledge of contemporary business practices acquired through graduation from a four-year college/university or equivalent relevant business experience.
    • License/Certifications: Relevant Professional certification (CMRP or CPM) preferred.
    • Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in purchasing, contracting, negotiation and sourcing required. Healthcare experience preferred.
    • Current knowledge of purchasing principles and procedures.
    • Knowledge of contracting law and governing regulations.
    • Ability to source quality products & services; knowledge of market and pricing trends; ability to effectively bench mark total value.
    • Knowledge of methods used in the access and use of information including data analysis. Ability to prepare specifications and the analysis of bids and contracts. Microsoft Office Skills required.
    • Ability to assess and interpret data, make independent decisions & recommendations, and implement solutions.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) critical; Ability to form and maintain positive working relationships and engage in team building.
