Spring Harbor Hospital is seeking dedicated and passionate Psychiatric Technicians to provide care and emotional support to patients within the Adult Psychiatric Unit; contributing to the achievement of quality care and patient outcomes by maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu, assisting with the collection and documentation of data,  and in cooperation with the treatment team members, implements individualized treatment plans.

The West Adult Psychiatric Unit is a 24-bed general adult psychiatric unit that services patients who experience acute psychiatric illnesses and any co-occurring disorders. Treatment emphasizes return-to-work strategies and cognitive therapies to help patients transition smoothly from the hospital to the community and in the shortest possible time.

As a Psychiatric Technician, you will: 

  • Contribute to the achievement of quality care and positive patient outcomes. 

  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu. 

  • Provide emotional support. 

  • Encourage patient participation in programming. 

  • Facilitate activities and provide supervision. 

  • Reinforce desired behaviors. 

  • Offer redirection and behavioral intervention to maintain a safe environment for all.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): 

  1. Education: High School diploma and equivalent experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Social Services preferred. 

  2. License/Certifications: N/A 

  3. Experience: N/A 

  4. Demonstrates a proficiency in all aspects at the entry level position. 

  5. Must be able to annually demonstrate competency in seclusion and restraint training.
