Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care in a team-based ambulatory practice environment. This position will include assisting the care team in the full treatment of patients suffering from venous diseases at the Vein Center.

Responsibilities include obtaining vitals, assisting in office based minimally invasive sterile procedures and providing exceptional patient care. The LPN will also work with the vein center team with chart preparation, measuring patients for compression stockings, medical supply ordering and stocking.  

The LPN functions under the license of the provider when performing clinical and other patient care tasks. The LPN must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care within their scope of practice and according to organizational policies, accrediting and licensing bodies.

Summary of Position Description

Then LPN provides basic quality nursing care to patients by collaborating with the registered nurse (RN) medical assistant (MA) and provider to collect data, plan, educate, implement and deliver care safely, effectively and within the scope of their license as defined by the State of Maine Nurse Practice Act and in accordance with the Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  1. Diploma from an approved practical nursing program

  4. Active State of Maine Nursing License or eligible for licensure.

  7. Two Years LPN experience preferred

  10. Current BLS required

  13. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology

  16. Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies and functions

  22. Knowledge of infectious disease management and control safety standards
